Green & Groovy Bags
Back in the early ‘90s, when reusing and recycling were still in their
infancy, checkout operators would roll their eyes at me with a “here’s
a greenie” kind of look when I presented my backpack and a few tatty
old plastic bags to pack my groceries. My efforts to reuse were not
necessarily driven by a staunch environmental conviction. It just seemed
like common sense to use my bags for as long as I could before taking a
new one.
How times have changed! Nowadays people may well roll their eyes at
you for not reusing and recycling. There is plenty of evidence to support
the use of reusable shopping bags over single-use plastic bags. It is simple
things like this that we can all do to make our small but significant difference.
